Since 2011, Soo & Maria have been establishing themselves as a specialty duo, performing jazz standards for voice and harp. Soo & Maria’s relationship dates back to 2006, when they met as students at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts; it took them five years of friendship and four years at the New England Conservatory before they finally played together. Soo (www.soohanmusic.com), a composer, is also a jazz, pop, and R&B vocalist. Maria (www.mariarindenello.com) is a harpist, always eager to raise the profile of jazz on her instrument. Discovering their mutual love of jazz, they began collaborating to create arrangements of favorite songs. The project turned out more fruitful than they imagined: soon they were performing regularly, and more and more arrangements were added to their repertoire. Currently, they occupy a Fellowship with the Community Performances and Partnerships Program at the New England Conservatory.  In the fall of 2012, the Entrepreneurial Musicianship department of the Conservatory awarded Soo & Maria a grant to help develop and promote their ensemble. The highlight of this season so far has been performing at the new Calderwood Hall of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston.
